1.75" Triple Prong Full-Grain Buffalo Leather Belt – Chestnut

This 1.75-inch chestnut triple-prong leather belt combines a wide, substantial piece of full-grain buffalo leather with the distinctive look of a three-prong buckle.

I make this belt in my Colorado Springs workshop from one solid piece of full-grain buffalo leather. The rich chestnut color gives it a traditional brown-leather appearance that works especially well with jeans, work pants, boots and casual clothing.

The wide buckle uses three individual prongs that engage three rows of fitting holes across the belt. You may also see this style described as a 3-prong belt or three-prong leather belt.

Why Choose a Chestnut Leather Belt?

Chestnut is one of those leather colors that sits comfortably between a traditional medium brown and a deeper reddish-brown tone.

It has enough warmth to stand out from a basic brown belt without becoming difficult to match. It pairs particularly well with blue jeans, khaki, tan, olive and other casual colors.

Because this is full-grain buffalo leather, you may also see natural differences in grain, texture and color from one belt to another. I consider that part of the appeal of real leather rather than something that needs to be hidden beneath a heavy surface coating.

One Solid Piece of Full-Grain Buffalo Leather

I make this belt from one solid piece of full-grain buffalo leather. There is no bonded leather core, synthetic filler or manmade material hidden between layers.

Full-grain leather retains the natural grain structure of the hide, so variations in grain and texture are normal. Unlike highly corrected leather made to look perfectly uniform, full-grain buffalo leather still looks and feels like leather.

At approximately 10 oz, this is a substantial belt suited to everyday wear, jeans and work use.

Why Choose a Triple-Prong Belt?

A triple-prong buckle gives a wide belt a distinctive look and creates a broad connection across the front of the strap.

Instead of one prong engaging one fitting hole, three individual prongs engage three aligned rows of holes across the leather.

A True 1.75-Inch Wide Leather Belt

At 1.75 inches wide, this belt is noticeably wider than a typical 1.5-inch casual belt.

That additional width is one of the reasons the triple-prong design works so well, but it also means you should check the belt loops on the pants you intend to wear.

Jeans and work pants generally accommodate wider belts better than dress pants, but belt-loop dimensions vary by manufacturer.

Triple Prong, 3 Prong or Three Prong?

These belts are described several different ways online. Triple-prong belt, three-prong belt and 3-prong belt all refer to the same basic design: one wide buckle containing three individual prongs.

You may occasionally see the term “triple buckle belt” used as well, although technically this belt has one buckle rather than three separate buckles.

I make this belt here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I prepare the leather, punch the three rows of fitting holes, install the hardware, assemble the belt and finish it for wear.

I have been selling leather belts since 2002, and my approach is pretty simple: start with good leather, use hardware appropriate for the belt, and build something meant to be worn rather than treated like a fashion accessory.

How to Order the Correct Belt Size

Do not order your pants size.

The most accurate way to determine your belt size is to measure a belt you already wear.

1. Lay your current belt flat.
2. Measure from the beginning of the leather at the buckle fold to the fitting hole you use most often.
3. Do not include the buckle itself in the measurement.
4. That measurement is the size you should order. If your measurement is an odd number, round up to the next even size.

For example, if your belt measures 37 inches, order a size 38. If it measures 40 inches, order a size 40.

Caring for Your Chestnut Buffalo Leather Belt

Leather care does not need to be complicated. Wipe away ordinary dirt with a clean cloth and allow the belt to dry naturally if it becomes wet.

Condition the leather when it actually begins to feel dry rather than automatically applying conditioner on a fixed schedule. Keep in mind that leather conditioners can temporarily darken chestnut leather, so use a small amount and test an inconspicuous area first.

Avoid soaking the belt or drying it with direct heat.
