How to Measure Your Belt Size

Do not order your pants size. The most reliable way to choose a belt size is to measure a belt that already fits you well. Pants sizing varies by brand, cut and manufacturer, so the number on your jeans is not a dependable belt measurement.

The Best Way to Measure a Belt

Choose a belt that fits you comfortably the way you normally wear it.
Lay the belt flat on a table or other smooth surface.
Start your tape measure at the beginning of the leather where it folds around the buckle. Do not measure from the end of the buckle.
Measure to the fitting hole you use most often.
That measurement, in inches, is the belt size to order from us.

For example, if your measurement from the leather fold to your most-used hole is 38 inches, order a size 38 belt. If the measurement is an odd number such as 37 inches, round up to the next even size and order a 38.

Our belts are generally sized so your ordered measurement falls at the center fitting hole, giving you adjustment room in both directions. Always review any product-specific sizing notes before ordering.

Why Pants Size Is Not Belt Size

A pair of pants labeled size 36 does not necessarily measure exactly 36 inches around the waistband. Brand sizing, rise, fabric and where you wear your belt can all change the measurement. Measuring an existing belt removes most of that guesswork and tells us where you actually fasten your belt.

Sizing a Belt for Concealed Carry

If you regularly wear an inside-the-waistband holster or other gear inside your waistband, measure a belt while wearing that gear whenever possible. If you cannot do that, you may need approximately 2 additional inches compared with your normal belt measurement. The best method is still to measure a belt that fits comfortably with your normal carry setup.

Use a belt that fits: Lay it flat. Measure from the beginning of the leather at the buckle fold to the hole you use most often. Do not include the buckle.
Order the measured size: A 38-inch measurement means size 38. If you measure 35 inches and the available sizes are 34 and 36, choose 36. Do not add inches to a pants tag size.
No belt to measure? Measure through the belt loops of the pants you will wear using a flexible tape, then contact us for help before ordering.
