If you are looking for a wide, substantial leather belt with a secure buckle, this 1.75-inch triple-prong leather belt is built for the job.

I make this belt in my Colorado Springs workshop from one solid piece of full-grain buffalo leather. At approximately 9–10 oz, or about 3.75–4.0mm thick, it has plenty of substance while remaining practical for regular wear.

The wide buckle uses three separate prongs that engage three rows of fitting holes across the belt. This style is also commonly called a 3-prong belt or three-prong belt.

Why Choose a Triple-Prong Belt?

A triple-prong buckle gives a wide belt a different look and feel from a traditional single-prong belt. Instead of one prong engaging one fitting hole, three prongs engage the leather across the width of the belt.

The result is a broad, secure connection at the buckle that works particularly well with a substantial 1.75-inch strap.

This style is a great choice for:

  • Jeans and heavy denim
  • Work pants
  • Utility and trade use
  • Heavy everyday wear
  • Anyone who prefers a wider, more substantial belt

This is not a narrow dress belt designed to disappear into an outfit. A triple-prong belt has some presence.

One Solid Piece of Full-Grain Buffalo Leather

I make this belt from one solid piece of full-grain buffalo leather. There is no bonded leather core, synthetic filler, or manmade material hidden between layers.

At approximately 9–10 oz, the leather falls into what I consider a substantial everyday and work-belt range. It has enough thickness to feel sturdy without becoming unnecessarily bulky.

If you want to understand how leather weight relates to actual belt thickness, take a look at my Leather Belt Thickness Guide .

A True 1.75-Inch Wide Leather Belt

At 1.75 inches wide, this belt is noticeably wider than a standard 1.5-inch casual belt.

That extra width is part of the appeal, but it also means you should make sure the belt loops on the pants you plan to wear are large enough. Jeans and work pants generally have larger loops than dress pants, but loop sizes vary.

If you are deciding between a 1.5-inch and 1.75-inch belt, my Men’s Belt Width Guide explains the differences.

Triple Prong, 3 Prong or Triple Buckle?

You may see this style described using several different names. Triple-prong belt, three-prong belt and 3-prong belt all refer to the same basic buckle configuration: one wide buckle with three individual prongs.

Some people also refer to this style as a “triple buckle belt,” although technically there are not three separate buckles. It is one buckle with three prongs.

Handmade in Colorado Springs

I make this belt here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I cut and prepare the leather, punch the three rows of fitting holes, install the hardware, assemble the belt, and finish it for wear.

I have been selling leather belts since 2002, and my approach is pretty straightforward: use good leather, use hardware that fits the job, and make a belt that is built to be worn.

How to Order the Correct Belt Size

Do not order your pants size.

The most accurate way to determine your belt size is to measure a belt you already wear.

  1. Lay your current belt flat.
  2. Measure from the beginning of the leather at the buckle fold to the fitting hole you use most often.
  3. Do not include the buckle itself in your measurement.
  4. That measurement is the size you should order. If your measurement is an odd number, round up to the next even size.

For example, if you measure 37 inches, order a size 38. If you measure 40 inches, order a size 40.

Please review the sizing illustration in the product photos and my complete Belt Size & Measuring Guide before ordering.

I Size the Belt to the Center Hole Your ordered size will fall on the center fitting hole, giving you adjustment room in both directions.

Caring for Your Buffalo Leather Belt

Leather care does not need to be complicated. Wipe away ordinary surface dirt with a clean cloth, allow the belt to dry naturally if it becomes wet, and condition the leather when it actually begins to feel dry rather than automatically treating it on a fixed schedule.

Avoid soaking the leather or drying it with direct heat.

A Wide Belt Built to Be Worn

If you want a narrow dress belt, this probably is not the belt for you. If you want a 1.75-inch piece of full-grain buffalo leather with a wide three-prong buckle and a substantial feel, this is exactly what I built it to be.

Instructions for cleaning, conditioning, and storing the product.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Use a leather-specific cleaner for deeper cleaning.
  • Conditioning: Apply a small amount of leather conditioner every 3–6 months to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and folding the belt to preserve its shape.
