The Workhorse: Amish Made Brown Harness Leather Belt

The Workhorse is a thick, substantial harness leather belt handmade by Amish craftsmen in Ohio. It is cut from one solid piece of full-grain Wickett & Craig steer hide and built for customers who want a firm, heavy-duty 1.5-inch belt for jeans, workwear, and everyday use.

Product Features

  • Full-grain Wickett & Craig harness leather
  • Approximately 14oz heavyweight steer hide
  • 1.5 inches wide (38mm)
  • Brown finish
  • One-piece solid leather construction
  • Solid brass buckle
  • Handmade by Amish craftsmen in Ohio, USA

Heavyweight Harness Leather

Harness leather is traditionally used where strength and structure matter. The approximately 14oz leather used for The Workhorse has a firm, substantial feel and will gradually break in with wear. Natural grain, minor marks, and variation from hide to hide are normal characteristics of full-grain leather.

How to Choose Your Size

Do not order your pants size. Lay a belt that fits you flat and measure from the start of the leather at the buckle fold to the hole you use most often. That measurement is the belt size to order. If the measurement is an odd number, round up to the next even size.

Review our belt sizing guide before ordering.

Leather Care

Wipe away dirt with a soft cloth and let wet leather dry naturally away from direct heat. Condition only when the leather begins to feel dry. Use a small amount and test a hidden area first because conditioner can change the color or finish.

  • Cleaning: Wipe away dust and surface dirt with a clean, soft cloth. Use a slightly damp cloth when necessary, but do not soak the leather.
  • Conditioning: Apply leather conditioner only when the leather begins to feel dry. Always test it on a small, inconspicuous area first because conditioner may darken or alter the finish.
  • Drying: Allow wet leather to air-dry naturally. Do not use a hair dryer, heater or direct sunlight.
  • Storage: Store the belt in a cool, dry place. Hang it by the buckle or roll it loosely—never fold it sharply.

Not Sure About Your Belt Size?

Before ordering, measure a belt that fits from the beginning of the leather at the buckle fold to the hole you use most. Do not include the buckle or rely on your pants size. Our sizing guide walks you through it, and we can help if you have questions.
